Get Rid of the 'Do Rags

stylish salon chairsWe see hair as raw material.  Organic fibre that requires skillful handling.  A whole head ready for Gestalt shaping.

It may seem obvious, but a stylist requires an eye for design.

Without design, the act of cutting strands into a perfunctory hairstyle is a trade.  Nothing wrong with plying a trade.  But be sure you’re not paying just to get your locks chopped textbook style … when you thought you were getting a stylist.

Do you want to be just another head to get through?  Another one of this season’s “it” styles?  Rushed... No nuance...  And without a whole lot of thought behind the scissors? Yeah, we know. Rhetorical question.

stylish woman in a red beltCall us pretentious (go on, we can take it), but we think of styling hair as an art-form.  Like great architecture, or kick-ass furniture design, we understand how form follows function.

We think that if your hair is meant to move, its form will reflect that.  Likewise, if it’s meant to function as a frame or a statement piece, look carefree or be easy to care for, project elegance or seriousness, your hair needs to be able to do that.  In short, what you need from your hair will dictate the precise form of your style.

…we understand how form follows function.

cool girlYour head is like a canvas to us.  And like any great designer, we help our clients find what suits them best.  We ask questions.  We explain processes.  You consult us.  We consult you.

We discuss ideas.

As style evolves and people evolve, our discussion with our clients continue.  We don’t cut hair.  We design.

Off with the (hair)do rags. And into thoughtful design.
